Issue #9: If A Page Could Hold UsIf you were given a blank page today, what would you ink down? What would you put down if someone handed you a piece of paper and said, “Write to yourself". It sounds simple, but some of us would probably sit for a while, and wouldn't know where to begin. Most of the time, our words go everywhere but inward. We write lists, reports, and texts. Rarely do we stop to speak to the person who carries us through every single day. Still, they’re there. There are words looking for an exit. And there are words our inner selves want to hear from us: Words of apology. Words of gratitude. Words of comfort. Paper could be your therapy today. And as you sit before this blank page, maybe your letter would be an apology: “I’m sorry I’ve been so hard on you.” Maybe it would be an encouragement: “You’ve survived things you thought would break you. I see that.” Your letter could even be a reminder: “You don’t have to do it all at once. One small step is still a step.” Some of us might write about the past: “I miss the version of me who used to laugh so freely.” Others might write about the present: “I’m proud of how far you’ve come, even if no one else noticed.” And sometimes, it’s enough to write only this: “I’m still here today, and that matters.” So here’s your page. What would you say to yourself? |
